S.I.O.S: Recompiled // Devlog #1

Development progress on S.I.O.S: Recompiled is going strong. Although I am seriously scolding my past self for making such a confusing and frankly awful file structure and codebase. This has definitely slowed me down a bit, but shouldn't massively impact development time as I am quite determined to get this project finished, playtested, and shipped out the door before November (no promises). Attached to this post, you can find a new teaser, showcasing the general atmosphere and graphical style of the game. I'm not sure if I need to put a trigger warning on it, but just in case, the image contains a depiction of suicide (in the form of a person hanging). These themes, whilst certainly present within the game, are not a main gameplay focus, so if you are a bit iffy about those kinds of topics, rest assured. In terms of this style of post, I am going to try to keep these up somewhat regularly. I enjoy writing them, and I love giving teasers for both my current and upcoming works. With that, I have a codebase to restructure (wish me luck!).

S.I.O.S: Recompiled // Announcement

I am pleased to officially announce S.I.O.S: Recompiled. S.I.O.S: Recompiled is a heavily remastered version of the original S.I.O.S, taking each core element of the original and transforming it into three dimensions. In terms of setting and environment, the game is set in a trashed sector of a primarily Vulturus Technologies controlled city. Adding to this, the world feels more lived in than ever, with significant interactive exploration available. This game will also be the “definitive” version, meaning the events in the original game are not canon to the universe in which all my projects are set. Instead, this game takes its place in the canon. Because of this, you do not need to play the original game; in fact, I would advise against it. Attached to this post you can find a first look at the protagonist's apartment, giving you an idea of the graphical style and themes of this experience. Moreover, gone are the days of a purely linear narrative, this time around there are multiple ways to push the plot forward. To enhance this, the majority of narrative elements have been entirely reworked to clarify the plot. Lastly, this rework also comes with multiple endings, letting you decide the eventual fate of the protagonist...

More information will be revealed closer to finished development.

S.I.O.S // Download

S.I.O.S is a short interactive experience. It servers a prologue with the purpose of establishing world building for my upcoming narrative-driven FPS game. In S.I.O.S you are tasked with navigating the ancient but still widely used S.I.O.S operating system, when an anonymous email propels you right into the midst of a scandal with tech giant Vulturus Technologies. In the process, you uncover dark secrets that if exposed could rupture the world as you know it.

NOTICE: When the game is opened you may recieve a Windows Defender popup. This is simply due to Windows not recognising the source of the file, it does not mean the game is unsafe to run. You can research this yourself if you do not trust me. I also encourage you to scan the game with any anti-virus software if you are still unsure.

S.I.O.S // Announcement

About a month ago I took a break from working on S.I.O.S. During that break I greatly developed my guitar skills and also took a deep plunge into web-development, and as a result of that, this website now exists! Now, getting back onto subject, I have recently returned to this project with a new found passion and motivation. This being to both complete and polish off the game, getting it all ready to release by the end of this month. With all that said and out of the way, I am overjoyed to announce the final release date. S.I.O.S will officially be releasing on the 27th of May 2025. In terms of how I will go about the release I have not yet looked at the specifics. Although I have considered possibly having a download on this website (no promises). If not the next most likely platform for release will be over on my itch.io. Wrapping up this post, I thank you for taking the time out of your day to read this. I hope I do not dissapoint with the release of S.I.OS. As it is the prologue to my larger project that will be released later this year. Once again, thank you for your time and I will be sure to regularly post development updates on this page!
